Profile bio

About Steve King

My opportunities to play football were cut short due to a serious injury early in my career, which resulted in AFC Bournemouth centre of excellence being the ceiling of my playing career. This quickly resulted in a change of focus into the coaching world whilst studying Football Studies at University. I have held a number of roles and gained valuable experience working in both male and female programmes with players of all ages, as a coach, coordinator and mentor. My coaching career has primarily been in England but it has also taken me to many places around the world. This has allowed me to experience many different cultures and environments, provided insights into a variety of approaches to player/ athlete development, which have all helped me to evolve my philosophy. In recent years, I embarked on a journey from coaching into coach development and mentoring, stepping into a new and exciting role at a Premier League club with Category 1 Academy status, with an excellent reputation in developing talented young players and staff in a culture of excellence. This provided an exciting opportunity to venture into learning and development, to explore modern approaches to teaching and learning, as well as develop connections and relationships with top practitioners at some of the best franchises and organisations around the world. This role has allowed me to facilitate learning for others, whilst continuing on my own development journey as a coach, coach developer, practitioner and leader.

Listed skills include Football, Football Coaching, Soccer, Team Management, and 17 others.
