Directs the design, planning, and implementation of corporate training programs aligned with the objectives and strategy of the company. Collaborates with functional management teams to assess ongoing and future training and development needs, as well as, effectiveness of established programs. Developing a program delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations that work for the participants. Providing engaging communications about program information to encourage participation and highlight the value and benefits of training. Approve new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs. Oversees and establishes relationships with vendors to provide additional outside training programs. Manages and develops training professionals. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creating functional strategies and specific objectives for the manufacturing plant and develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of management functions and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Responsible for the assessment and identification of the business’s training and development needs, primarily at the managerial level and for the effective coordination of training and development programs for the manufacturing facilities. Always actively searching, creative designs, and implementing effective methods for enhancing performance, and recognizing outstanding performance.

Provide environmental, health, and safety leadership to the manufacturing in terms of equipment/line installation. Maintain familiarity with local, state, and federal rules along with relevant consensus standards e.g., ANSI, RIA, etc. Develop company-wide safety and environmental regulatory processes, trainings, and programs that improve safety of manufacturing equipment. Work with manufacturing to implement and sustain the corporate environmental and safety system, including sustainability. Provide direction on safe design and use of equipment, fire prevention, and safety training programs. Provide engineering solutions with regards to machine guarding. Aid project managers in the preparation of capital requests and complete reviews to ensure that projects are in compliance with all regulatory and Freshpet requirements. Assist the Plant Manager in maintaining a positive relationship with the local community.

Manage overall operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Department. Ensure safe and efficient operations. Serve as a company representative on regulatory issues. Enhance the operational procedure, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting and looks for opportunities to expand systems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, selection and hiring; training new and existing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; authoring and discussing with employees performance appraisals; addressing employee performance and corrective action plans; employee motivation and rewards. Proven team building and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others. Experience managing at least 50 direct reports., including temporary agency staff. Excellent leadership ability. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint Microsoft VBA programming and other spreadsheet and database applications.
