Stephen Fitzpatrick, PhD: President, DPS BiometicsDr. Stephen Fitzpatrick was founder and chief executive of Biometics Inc a nationally recognized consulting and bioprocess engineering firm for over twenty years prior to acquisition by the Irish company, DPS Engineering. He played a leading role in the conceptual planning and design of the Massachusetts Accelerator for Bio-manufacturing (MAB) at U. Mass. Dartmouth bringing to the project over thirty years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Dr. Fitzpatrick is now Senior Vice President of DPS Engineering, a Framingham, MA based engineering, architectural and consulting company focused on the biopharmaceutical industry. DPS Engineering was the lead design firm responsible for the detailed design of the MAB. Over the years, Dr. Fitzpatrick has consulted on the development of technical advances and strategic planning related to the biopharmaceutical industry and has lead or participated in many production facility design projects. He is also inventor of the Biofine technology for conversion of biomass to valuable fuels and chemicals and founder of Biofine Technology LLC.Dr. Fitzpatrick holds Bachelor’s and Master’s and Doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Manchester, UK and is recipient of the Dista Prize in Biochemical engineering (Manchester University) and the 1999 Presidential Green Chemistry Award from the U.S. E.P.A. He has authored several publications on Biopharmaceutical facility design and renewable chemicals.Fitzpatrick is married with four children and a little dog called Guinness. He was born in the U.K. but has lived in the U.S. for over thirty years. He enjoys watching English Premier League soccer.
