My main area of expertise during this period has been offering a range of insurance and risk management advice, guidance and services to the leisure and licensed trade sectors. This has involved working with all aspects of the insurance industry as well as both independent and corporate operators and trade associations. I’ve been part of a very successful NDML team that has established itself as the leading independent insurance broker to the leisure and licensed trade as well as having secured accreditations from BEDA/NOCTIS, Best Bar None and now NTIA. I have presented to the board committee at the House of Lords regarding what benefits we, as a trade specific broker, could offer to Best Bar None accredited venues and how we could promote the core ‘Socially Responsible’ approach they endorsed in to a tangible benefit for said venues insurance cover and costs by way of discounts and cover enhancements.I set up the first trade specific ‘Late Licensed’ insurance product to be launched in the UK. The product showed that we were willing to work with a trade sector that had longed been maligned by the general insurance market. From a personality point of view, I would like to think I was thought of as being supportive, articulate and good member of the team. I believe my main skill is to be able to understand and relay the key issues both insurance providers and clients have with their insurance and risk management propositions and to match these two areas together to ensure that our clients get practical advice, value for money and of course, adequate support in their proverbial hours of need.
