I’ve been an airline pilot since 2006 flying aircraft from Beech 1900s to regional jets to Airbus A320s. I have over 1,000 hours as an airline captain. In addition to flying, I have 12 years of experience as an aviation consultant specializing in developing pilot training material. I produce various pilot training videos hosted on the Honeywell Aerospace YouTube channel. I’m passionate about improving aviation safety by helping pilots effectively understand modern aviation technology. Years ago, my wife bought me a coffee maker for Christmas. It was a complex grind and brew type coffee maker and I wasn’t sure how to set it up and use it. Instead of reading the manual, I instinctively searched for a how to video on YouTube and found a quick video that helped me quickly setup the coffee maker and brew my first cup of coffee. At this time, I was writing pilot manuals for various Honeywell aircraft. This made me think, why can’t we present the material in the pilot manuals in simple and easy to watch videos hosted on YouTube? At the time, this wasn’t being done. I convinced management to invest in some camera technology as well as hire some professional video editors. I went to work writing scripts and screenplays for pilot training videos and they were very positively received. Today, I have created well over 100 pilot training videos on YouTube. I have a background in technical writing and have authored many pilot manuals for various aircraft. I have an extensive background working with aerospace engineers and reading and interpreting engineering specifications and documents. In addition to producing videos, I have also helped transition pilot manuals from paper manuals to interactive epub style documents. I aim to further my passion for taking complex aerospace technology and presenting it to pilots in an effective and easy to use manner by incorporating virtual reality training in the future.
