In 2012 all of the scheduled development and maintenance work on the TMS had been completed so I rejoined the terminal application development team.I worked on a demonstration application for the UK Petro market and a Barcode Scanner application that was intended to be deployed as part of an application development framework.

In 2007 I took on a new role maintaining, and further developing, the UK specific elements of a suite of TMS (Terminal Management System) applications that are used by Gemalto clients to manage their credit card terminals.In January 2011 Gemalto Point of Sale was handed over to VeriFone as part of a strategic partnership between Gemalto and Verifone.

During this time we successfully deployed a number of applications for the UK market including Chip & PIN for APACS 40 and APACS 30/50.Other terminal solution development that I was involved in included an e-Purse application, an eTopUp application and a Transax Cheque Guarantee application.In June 2006 Axalto combined with Gemplus to become Gemalto.

I joined Schlumberger in July 1990, as a technician, building PCBs for the range of ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) products that were produced in the Ferndown factory.After approximately one year I moved to the PCB test department.In 1994 the ATE division moved from Ferndown to Saint-Etienne in France and my partner and I, together with a number of my colleagues and their families, moved to France to provide continued support for the ATE products.I worked in Saint-Etienne for approximately 18 months before moving to Simi Valley in California to provide support and training for the ATE department there.After 6 months I returned to the Ferndown factory, as a Software Engineer, to support the S64X range of bench top ATE products.This work continued until the late 90’s when my focus moved from the ATE products to the emerging range of Credit Card terminals that Schlumberger were producing for the US market.Using C++, I developed a number of communication libraries for use in the US market while working in Ferndown and Moorestown in New Jersey.In 1999 I joined a team, in Ferndown, tasked with creating a Credit Card terminal solution for the UK market. My initial role was to develop a communication library for the terminal using the knowledge that I had gained working for the US market.In 2003 Schlumberger Smart Cards & Terminals was rebranded as Axalto.
