The training team & human resources departments are the heart of an organization. They say you should treat your employees how you want them to treat your customers; and I believe it all begins with the training/HR department(s). From recruiting through termination, the training/HR department(s) can absolutely set the tone throughout the entire organization while cultivating a cohesive culture. As a formal and informal leader, I ensured that my department is visible and available to develop organizational personnel, and that our leadership team is informed enough to generate cohesion to build a valuable team amongst their respective division. A true leader's door should always be open to hearing concerns/complaints, compliments and suggestions from all personnel; people should be comfortable approaching the office with any issues. The HR office does not have to be the grown up’s version of the principal’s office, it can be so much more. Here are just a few roles that we play:➡ The chess player that deploys people in the most effective and strategic manner➡ The coach who guides and mentors employees to achieve their full potential.➡ The cheerleader that motivates the team and builds excitement. ➡ The peacekeeper and mediator who diffuses conflict and builds coalition.➡ And when needed, the disciplinarian that communicates and enforces the rules. The list could go on, but I have been effectively fulfilling these roles and many more for more than 12 years. Since I transitioned out of the Air Force in 2019, I've been permanently residing in the Central PA area. Here I continue to grow roots and use my skills to help the community that provided my foundation. In order to contact me regarding opportunities, you can email me at steve.radnor@hotmail.com.
