Throughout Steve's career, he has acquired an in-depth understanding of the natural environments of the southeast and brings that knowledge to the specific challenges presented in our developed landscapes. With over 30 years of research, analysis and design based on the natural ecological systems throughout the south, Steve has a wealth of knowledge using native plant material to enhance biodiversity, restore natural system functions and create aesthetic designs that provide real performance landscapes. As an active member within the industry, Steve is a member of ASLA, the GA Native Plant Society and served on the Board for Trees Atlanta from 2008-2014. Recognized as a true expert in preserving and capitalizing on the natural environment, Steve regularly volunteers to speak about relevant environmental topics to various organizations such as Park Pride, Trees Atlanta and UGA-CED students.Some of Steve's most notable projects include: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Master Plan, Center for Advanced Pediatrics and their Support & Administrative Buildings, several campuses for Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the award-winning project Hickory Log Creek Reservoir, University of Georgia Law School, The Lovett School, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and the Downtown Atlanta Urban Tree Planting Plan, in which the goal is to integrate more than 8,000 trees into the downtown Atlanta footprint to increase natural canopy.

  Steve Sanchez has been a part of the HGOR team since its inception, in 1992. For each assignment, Steve utilizes the company's S.E.E. philosophy, known as social, economic and environmental considerations when envisioning a project. As HGOR's "plant brain," Sanchez focuses on native plantings, design and sustaining the natural environment. To further advance the design process, Steve has created a relational database containing over 8,000 plants from varied climate regions, each with more than 300 characteristics identified per species. The software provides an instant feedback loop to determine the best plant selections for each specific design. In addition, Steve has introduced several native plant selections into the trade to advance the use of natives, which is vital to the future health of our environment. His knowledge and expertise in this category position Steve as a key differentiator and have made him a tremendous asset to HGOR and his client base.
