Director, producer, acting coach, NLP personal development coach and corporate communications facilitator and trainer. He has directed and worked with numerous schools, directed and consulted on several productions, adjudicated festivals and is a creative consultant for many senior dramatic arts students in Gauteng. As a private acting coach he has worked with new and professional actors with his students being accepted into colleges and universities in London, Los Angeles and New York. Outsourced as a corporate soft skills trainer, he has facilitated workshops and coached employees for Dimension Data, Siemens, Standard Bank, UCW, Nokia and Shoden Academy along with other corporate individuals seeking private coaching. He has worked extensively with dramatic arts students (as guest lecturer, examiner, teacher and director) for Crawford College, Dainfern, Midrand, Saint Stithians Boys’ and Girls’ College, King David, St Marys, St Peters, Redhill and Germiston High and directed school productions, namely Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Knowing When to Whisper (playwright), Oedipus (consultant), Heart’s Desire and Romeo and Juliet. Professional directing credits include Glass Roots, Art, Waiting for Godot, Doctor Faustus, 4.48 Psychosis, Bewitched (playwright), Medea, The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe and Couplet (which he also designed). His latest directing project, The Revlon Girl (Naledi nomination for best director as well as three nominations for his cast) showed at the National Arts Festival (where it received the Silver Ovation Award) and at the Sandton Theatre on the Square. As Artistic Director of the Actors Centre (February 2007 till September 2008), Steven worked with some of South Africa’s top talent and played a key role in bridging the gap between professional and developing artists. Over that time Steven coordinated, designed, directed, produced and managed over 30 projects and productions from staged readings, school syllabi, theatre festivals, staged productions, community outreach and inreach projects and corporate training. His passion for education and quality development in the Performing Arts had him open an Advanced Acting Academy in 2015; the academy consists of industry professionals whom Steven outsources for his yearly programmes. He has directed 11 productions through his academy, and students have gone on to star in films, local and international television series, soap dramas, Netflix productions and theatre shows, with some winning awards and others gaining international recognition for their work.
