I am a maker. I create and build, from 2D arts to high-tech industrial machining and equipment creation. I now teach and mentor the next generation in precision machining, manifesting ideas into reality, and teaching others how to convert their napkin sketches into producible designs.I am passionate about biking. I refurbish and build bicycles from scratch. Using my machining background, I have designed and built a custom bicycle frame jig that helps me to build frames faster and more precisely. Along with machining I will use oxy-acetylene silver brazing and TIG welding of aluminum and steel to better create with metal. I am a custom knife maker in my free time, and for that purpose I designed and built a 2x72" belt grinder with multiple tooling arms. More recently, also for knifemaking, I designed and built a 2000 degree (F) electronically controlled heat-treat oven to precisely harden the various alloys of blades.I am a collaborator. I am a co-advisor and mentor to the LWTech Innovation Club, helping students create their ideas. I have assisted Remote Energy in hands-on solar photovoltaic training. I have assisted in many of the events at LWTech by designing and machining production runs of parts as thank you presents for our donors and supporters. I am an active participant in the college community. I have facilitated and organized work with programs like Fitness, Engineering, Welding, Diesel, Culinary, Dental Motorcycle & Small Engines and more. I am an educator who loves to learn. As a machining expert, I train my students in the world of precision machining from hand tools and shop safety through the world of CAD, using SolidWorks to create solid models and MasterCam to create toolpaths and CNC programs. This also includes training in: precision measurement, manual milling and turning, grinding, speeds and feeds, cutting tool geometry, tooling design, CNC mill and lathe setup and operation, production machining, and manufacturing process design, process implementation and process improvement.
