About Steven Reid

I am an experienced and innovative professional who thrives on challenges and working in a delivery oriented environment. Working in both permanent and contract Project Manager and Business Analyst positions I have been working in Information Technology for the past 22 years and have a proven track record of delivery, adding value and customer satisfaction in highly regulated environments.I relish opportunities to use my extensive IT, management, research, analysis and practical expertise in challenging environments where my hands-on, sleeves rolled up, can-do attitude will add value and enable change. My main personal strengths are my customer focus, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and flexibility. I have an honest and open manner which allows me to quickly build and develop good working relationships with people from both business and technical backgrounds.I deliver on my promises, take ownership of issues to resolution and help, support and mentor colleagues.I deliver solutions that empower people to work efficiently and which streamline processes.I have a keen interest in new research and developments with a view to how these could translate to solutions that would be applicable to diabetes. I am particularly interested in non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring solutions such as wearable devices and artificial intelligence, as well as organ printing. As a Type1 diabetic, I have a personal interest in new methods, practices and technological solutions for diabetics.I have created and use an artificial pancreas (closed loop insulin delivery and continuous blood glucose monitoring system), using the Loop source code, and am investigating building an OpenAPS rig which could be used to manage my insulin delivery with another different type of insulin pump. I am a member of the Front Runners League who focus on social impact and innovation projects.I am interested in 3D Printing and how it can make a positive contribution to the diabetes community and healthcare in general.
