I taught both primary and secondary students in Dehong bi-lingual school (DEXA) in Xi'an, which is a partner school of the world-famous Dulwich College. In my role of teacher, I was responsible for teaching Chinese students a diverse range of topics, in English, using CLIL methodology. CLIL stands for "Content and Language Integrated Learning." It is an educational approach that involves teaching academic content in a second language, with the goal of developing both language proficiency and subject knowledge simultaneously. In CLIL, language learning becomes a tool for acquiring knowledge in various disciplines, such as science, mathematics, history, or geography.As a teacher at DEXA, I was able to harness my content creation skills, cultural knowledge of China, and curriculum development know-how to write my own curriculum for my students. Through positive and continual feedback, I was able to nurture my students to be creative thinkers and happy children. Sound assessment prniciples and working closely with parents helped to give students the platform to succeed.
