Contributed geospatial analysis support to the permitting of large scale commercial wind and solar energy and transmission line development projects throughout the country. Analyzed sites for avian, bat, ungulate, herpetological, and threatened and endangered species conflicts. Working with ecologists and wildlife biologists, produced site characterization studies, pre- and post-construction monitoring reports, wetland delineations, and critical issues analyses. Supported NEPA permitting process and quantified impacts of proposed alternatives for wind, solar, transmission, and reservoir enlargement projects. Developed digital flood insurance rate maps (DFIRMs) for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under Map Modernization and RiskMAP programs. Performed geospatial and hydrologic analysis of river basins and communities to develop flood hazard risk assessments. Investigated and solved problem related to automated extraction of levee crest elevations from LiDAR to facilitate floodplain classification of levee-protected areas. Reviewed work of junior geographers to ensure projects met technical specifications of FEMA. Developed and reviewed metadata for submission as program deliverables.
