About Stuart Strachan

Dr Stuart Strachan is a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine, Clinical Lecturer and the Interim Clinical Placements Lead for the Medical School of the University of St Andrews. He is the Chief Medical Officer for the UK’s largest single campus Independent School and works with the British Medical Association where he serves as Deputy Chair of SSASC and Representative on the LNC. He is the EMSAS Representative on the Scottish board of RCEM and works with the Advanced Practice team of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Stuart was one of Cohort 4 of the Scottish Clinical leadership Fellow programme, working between the Royal College of Anaesthetists and Scottish Government Health Workforce Directorate. He is passionate about supporting and developing people through leadership. An advocate for Dyslexic-thinking and talent management he is motivated to create an empowering environment through open communication and helping others to find their WHY? He is an instructor in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care for BASICS Scotland and is a MIMMS and H-MIMMS provider.Stuart Volunteers as both a BASICS-Scotland Responder and a Critical Incident Stress Management Practitioner. For 30 years he volunteered for the British Red Cross, from whom he received a National Humanities Award and was awarded the Voluntary Medical Service Medal. When not at work he has a passion for wood carving, bushcraft, reading and mindfulness. He can generally be found either swimming, out cycling or with his wife and two children jumping in puddles, exploring the hills or hiding in the woods.
