Working within the Oceanic ATS Day Support Team I am the 2nd line support for this system (Ops and Training) and it's subsystems. I hold the relevant Competency Rating which allows me to work on the Oceanic Air Traffic System. I also act as an interface between the System Asset Design Authority and Service Delivery.Role, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:• Provide flexible system engineering support.• Perform all assigned maintenance, repair, modification and inspection tasks on Air Traffic Management systems.• Support primary role whilst providing additional support for the other areas within the business.• Providing specialist support in order to restore service and redundancy.• Take part in on-call arrangements where if required to ensure operational manning profile is met.• Carry out administration, maintenance and fault diagnosis of ATM system in order to assure that agreed service levels are attained.• Investigate system malfunctions that are of an ambiguous nature, or unusually recurrent.• Produce, review and amend engineering instructions to ensure that systems are operated and maintained in a safe and professional manner.• To provide required expertise to support project requirements• Maintain configuration records for hardware, software and adaptation for ATM systems• The provision of equipment performance data as required.• Provide assistance and sometimes deliver on-job-training (OJT) for other NATS sections.

During my 18 months on the NATS IET approved Engineering Technician Scheme I completed numerous courses which included: Basic equipment overview courses (Comms, Surveillance, Navigational Aids & Information Systems and Control & Monitoring) and some extra shared areas including Health and Safety, Safety and Human Factors. These comply with the requirements of the Eurocontrol-Spec-132, Air Traffic Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) Common Core contents for Basic and Qualification training. The majority of the scheme consisted of OJT while simultaneously completing a Business Improvement project which is required as part of the scheme to qualify from the scheme as an Air Traffic Control Engineer.OJT Included approximately 10 months working with a project co-ordination team who provide an interface between LTIP projects and Engineering Operations, from Design/Implementation through to Engineering acceptance working with Project Managers to ensure safe and efficient implementation of systems and successful achievement of engineering acceptance. I also had an important internal duty to support other EO areas and requirements, such as maintenance groups, Service Management etc. Five months OJT (as an EngTech) with the Oceanic System's Service Support team. Acting as 2nd line support of the Oceanic ATS (Ops and Training). Interface between System Asset Design Authority (ADA) and Service Delivery ESD Customer support for Oceanic System project delivery.

Loch Lomond, Scotland

While studying for my HND in Electronics I also worked 4 days per week as a Food and Beverage Assistant at Cameron House Hotel, Loch Lomond.Primarily I worked in the morning in Cameron House's main restaurant ensuring the restaurant was set up for the guests to arrive for breakfast at 6am and ensuring that guests received a high quality service.My duties included:• Setting up the continental breakfast buffet• Ensuring all 50+ tables were correctly set with cutlery to a five star standard• Ensuring restaurant was clean before guests arrived• Attending to guests; taking tea/coffee & toast orders and A la carte menu orders and ensuring they received orders in a timely manner, clearing tables where appropriate and cleaning and resetting table once guest leaves.• Clearing all tables, cleaning them and setting them with dinner cutlery.• Cleaning the restaurant; tidying away milk jugs, continental breakfast associated cutlery and plate ware (and washing, drying & polishing for use the following day), dusting, mopping floor, vacuuming etc.• Replenishing dry foods, sealing them and storing them for use the following day.• Occasionally helping out when short staffed. Attending dinner shifts and assisting the main waiter by running orders to the kitchen and serving guests when order is ready (with cleaning duties similar to breakfast shift) as well as helping out the room service staff when needed.• Conducting stock checks in preparation for following day.• Ensuring all plates, cutlery, mugs etc. are polished and tidied away ready for use.• Ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed at all times and ensuring I am kept up to date with them.• Ensuring guests receive an excellent service (inside and outside of the restaurant).
