I am Partner and Head of Restructuring in Scotland and have dual responsibility for leading both the restructuring/insolvency team and the forensic and investigation services teamRestructuring/insolvencyI work closely with businesses and their stakeholders throughout Scotland providing advice in times of distress and under-performance. During the last 20 years I have built up significant experience across a wide range of sectors (particularly within energy, real estate, manufacturing and food/drink) providing advice on restructuring options (financial and operational) as well as undertaking viability reviews on behalf of lenders. I am also a licensed insolvency practitioner and take insolvency appointments.In terms of the type of work I undertake:- Independent business reviews/Options reviews- Financial and operational restructuring- Pre-lending reviews- Insolvency and turnaround adviceForensic and investigation servicesWith responsibility for re-establishing Grant Thornton's forensic presence in the Scottish market, I have a particular focus on the following areas:- Expert witness- Quantification of loss- Fraud investigations- Contract compliance reviewsQuantification of loss in a variety of commercial disputes, providing opinion on business/equity value in shareholder disputes and submitting expert reports in professional negligence actions have formed the focus of my expert witness work. Fraud investigations have typically centred around employee/director fraud.Qualifications and affiliationsI am a Chartered Accountant and a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and am licensed to act as an insolvency practitioner by the Insolvency Practitioners Association. I am also a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3)
