I completed my Graduation in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1984. I joined BHEL - Electronics Division. I championed the development of two families of control systems based on Intel Multibus I and Multibus II architecture. The indigenously developed control system was first used in the National HVDC (Power Transmission) project. I am proud to be associated with this project. After a long spell at BHEL, I joined Wipro's VLSI and System Design group in 1999. This was a radical shift for me – from control systems to state of the art high speed optical networking, from working for a government agency to working in a project for a Silicon Valley start-up!! I was project manager and was responsible for the hardware design of the Networking boards.I joined MindTree in 2001 in Hardware Engineering group. We designed various boards starting from high speed multi-layer optical Networking boards to compact, low power consumer electronics products. In 2003, I started taking care of the VLSI design group also as the head of Hardware Engineering Practice. In 2006, I moved to head the Consumer Systems Industry group and was responsible for the engineering, business development and delivery activities of the group and helped to formulate and implement strategic plans and programs to achieve revenue and profitability objectives. In April 2011, I took up the initiative for the development of ‘Set Top Box’, a product owned by MindTree.In April 2012 I changed my job and joined the world of Start-ups. I joined Snap Networks Pvt. Ltd. as VP- Engineering. Here I am leading a team of engineers in hardware and software area to develop Wireless Home Theater Audio Systems. The experience of taking a product from design to Mass production is thrilling and exciting. The product is designed for the European market with all compliance to Safety and EMI/EMC. Keeping the Engineering cost and the timelines under control is very challenging.
