Title: Growth Behaviour of a Hypersaline Chlorophyte (Dunaliella salina) and Assessment of its Metabolic State under Selected NaCl Levels- A series of biochemical and physiological experiments were conducted to assess the growth behavior and metabolic state of D. salina.- Salinity tolerance was correlated to various parameters such as antioxidative enzymes responses, efficiency of photosynthetic mechanisms based on fluorescence, cellular levels of proline accumulation and degradation of lipids.- Optimum salt concentration for mass cultivation of D. salina was worked out.

Title: Taxonomic studies of Heterocystous Cyanobacteria using Polyphasic Approach- The cyanobacterial strains from culture collection were used to characterise and identify using popular 16S rRNA gene amplification sequences.- For more potent and reliable results, other cyanobacterial specific primers were used for studying the taxonomic and phylogenetic parameters, such as rbcL, rpoC1, tufA, nifD and psbA coding proteins important to cyanobacteria.- Results were compared with proper preferences to resolve taxonomic inconsistencies and delineate closely related cyanobacterial species from one another.
