John Sullivan leads Harper Grey’s Commercial Litigation Group and is an active member of the firm’s Family, Workplace and Insurance Law Groups. His expertise in commercial dispute resolution was recognized on the international level in January, 2016, when he was appointed one of the four Litigation and ADR co-chairs for TAGLaw, an international affiliation of leading law firms. John is the only Canadian holding that position. John has been published on commercial litigation topics in the Canadian Bar Review, as well as several publications in BC, Oregon and Washington State. He is well-known for his expertise in such areas as corporate disputes including shareholder and oppression litigation, as well as the enforcement of judgments across the Canada-US border.   John is a leading commercial litigator who, in addition to his general commercial litigation practice, has developed expertise in corporate disputes as well as the enforcement of foreign judgments in Canada. Recent experience includes:• Defending the CEO of a TSX-V listed mineral exploration company in a 6 day hearing against allegations of oppression arising out of a proxy contest.• Defending a BC business in a three-week trial against allegations of breach of contract, unjust enrichment and misappropriation of funds.• Representing a plaintiff investor in a threeweek trial relating to allegations of breach of contract and misuse of funds.• Enforcing American and other judgments in BC under the Court Order Enforcement Act, as well as the Morguard principle.• Acting as co-counsel for the wife of a mining executive in a matrimonial trial involving significant corporate and trust assets. • Acting for a husband in an injuction application relating to trust and corporate assets in a matrimonial dispute.• Acting for a large private company in litigation against its former directors and officers for misappropriation of funds. In this same dispute, John also represented the company in opposing an application for liquidation, as well as in contested proceedings to rectify its share register.• Representing an investment advisor in a two-week trial in which she faced allegations of having improperly taken confidential documents when she moved from one brokerage firm to another.
