Help to develop, write and edit a set of differentiated formative assessments for ELL students in 8th and 10th grades for the New York City Department of Education. Writing and editing fiction passage content, graphic organizers, and multiple choice items sets for ELA subject matter assessments, writing and editing multiple choice item sets for ELA ( fiction) and Social Studies subject matter assessments, and writing differentiations of passages and item sets for these assessments. Researched and created Lexile level ranges for the project, sourced appropriate exemplar reading passages as guidelines for writers, wrote criteria documents for training, consulted on various reading and writing issues for ELL students drawing on my experience in educational publishing and as an ELL classroom instructor.

Newsela builds reading comprehension by delivering relevant, daily articles from trusted news sources at the reading level that’s just right for the student. Articles span such topics as arts, astronomy, economics, geopolitics, music, sports and zoology. Every article is published at five different reading levels (including the original version of the article.).As a leveler, I use my skills related to differentiated instruction to create 4 new versions of each article. Each version is created specifically for a grade level in terms of the correct reading level/Lexile score, vocabulary, and grade level appropriateness of content. I work on leveling news stories and also other special projects such as leveling groups of presidential biographies or famous speeches. The work involves editing and rewriting directly on the back end of Newsela's interactive digital platform. All assignments must be completed on schedule and under deadline. As a Vocabulary Editor for the Power Words feature, I edit definitions for sets of vocabulary words from each level of each article, specifically chosen to help students get the most out of that reading experience. I also edit the quiz questions written for each Power Word to assess student comprehension. As a Quiz editor, I edit the comprehension quizzes attached to each level for Newsela articles, or similar quizzes which are attached to Newsela's educational video feature.

I write reading sections, listening monologues and dialogues,and question items for various EFL (English as a Foreign Language) assessment tests for a variety of academic levels, such as the ECCE, the ECPE and the TEAP in Japan.

Develop, Project manage, and supervise writing and editing of ELA lessons and assessment content for a digital educational product called StraightAce. Developmental editor and project manager for the new Grades 3 through 5 version of StaightAce ELA. Wrote guidelines, prototypes and boiler plates and supervised every aspect of the Gr 3-5 product's creation. I input and manage content for digital platform, Quipper. Hire, train, and supervise lesson, reading passage and test item writers. Write and develop prototypes and guidelines. Negotiate, review and edit contracts with writers. Work with production in choosing and coordinating illustration, design, animation, and video elements of the product. Develop budget and plan workflow timeline for new version of StraightAce for grades 3 through 5. Develop, help write, and edit quizzes and various other ancillary products for the use of marketing campaigns, and research studies for the purposes of promoting the product.Simultaneous to creating the Gr 3-5 product, I supervise the gradual replacement of the pre-existing Reading lessons for grades 6 through 8, (The Gr 6-8 product was created before I joined the company) which were full of extremely inappropriate material, relative to grade level, and subject matter for any educational product.
