Additionally, I was licensed nationwide to process property insurance claims, and was recognized as a top performer in customer service.

Chicago, Illinois

Working alongside chief meteorologist Tom Skilling, I conducted climate research and collected weather data for the 5pm and 9pm live television news broadcasts, along with interpreting and analyzing radar, satellite and numerical weather models to ensure accurate forecasts. Additionally, I assisted in creating and editing the Chicago Tribune daily weather page, and was responsible for proofreading the text and verifying maps and data before submitting it for publication according to the nightly deadline.

Assisted forecasters with weather stories, public information statements, and other duties as requested. Completed large project for FEMA Region V, assessing probability of EF2 or greater tornado occurrence or significant ice storm occurrence in our six state region using advanced statistical methods. Had two articles published in the NWS quarterly newsletter, "Weather Currents" (under "publications" below). Assisted with storm survey after May 7 severe weather event in Iroquois County, IL. Worked on project examining the effect of northwest/southwest flow on major northern Illinois snow events throughout history. Monitored atmospheric boundaries for the Golden Triangle's AutoNowCaster field project within Chicago's NWS CWA. I was also very active with community outreach events, educating the public about severe weather safety and the importance of NOAA weather radios.
