Responsible for general management and oversight of Bowdoin’s communications and public affairs programs, which include proactive media relations; integrated marketing; public relations and publications programs; Web site content; sports information; video and special events production; photography; and strategic efforts in support of academic recruitment and fund raising. He advises the president, other senior officers, and trustees on matters of public relations, crisis management, community and government relations, marketing, and communications. He is a senior officer of the College and serves as Bowdoin’s spokesperson. He is also a member of Bowdoin's Campus Emergency Management Team. Scott’s duties also include campus and alumni communications, speechwriting, and regular contributions to "Bowdoin" magazine, including interviews with and feature articles about prominent Bowdoin alumni in the fields of government, business, and the arts.

Provides communications, marketing, writing, and editing consulting services to individuals and organizations. Most recent clients include the University of Maine School of Law, Bentley College, and The Jane Group.

Supervised radio news staff for this statewide public radio network; served as a radio news reporter and producer; co-host of "Maine Things Considered." Also hosted "Morning Edition" and "Midday" news broadcasts. Recipient of numerous radio news awards from the Maine Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. Regular contributor to NPR's "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition," CNN Radio, and Monitor Radio.
