The Continuous Improvement and Accreditation Unit (CIAU) is a vital component in the continuous improvement of academic processes and procedures at the University of Science and Technology in Zewail City (UST). CIAU leads the coordination of continuous improvement processes by using technology-based tools and a data-driven approach, which includes the assessment of learning outcomes, accreditation affairs, and development of learning-support software. Through the use of custom-built software solutions and a data-driven approach, CIAU aims to facilitate a continuous improvement cycle that measures, evaluates, and improves all aspects of academic programs at UST, using the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle as a framework. CIAU also provides support for course-level and program-level continuous improvement across UST programs while overseeing the design, development, and implementation of in-house built software solutions to automate workflows and enhance the learning experience.

- Coordinate Program Assessment effort among all university programs. - Oversee local and international accreditation requirements. - Prepare programs, apply, and follow up on local and international accreditation. - Control, save, and improve university policies and curricula. - Assist in building new programs. - Monitor and improve university policy implementation. - Automate updates and changes in policies and curricula through automated systems. - Automate the processes of issuing and revising student enrollment and graduation certificates.

Utilized by program directors and university administration for course planning and continuous improvement. - Petition management system: Built workflows to process student requests involving instructors, program leadership, and various admin offices. - Intranet: Linked instructors with university folders and course file data. - Tool for direct assessment scores: Translated student performance in assessments into course learning outcome scores, used to assess and improve course design continuously. - New university website: Developed with features like accessibility (WACAG standards), mobile-first design, SEO, and analytics connectivity.

The main task of the AU is to coordinate the Academic Accreditation affairs, manage the Teaching Effectiveness Unit and manage the Learning Technologies Services activities. The AU mission in short is to measure and evaluate the processes and procedures inside the University of Science and Technology (UST) at Zewail City, and to provide support for the Continuous Improvement Cycles inside the UST programs.
