After making a decision to transition from private dance studio teaching to public school teaching, I am learning and developing skills in classroom management, as well as teaching tools and rules and policies. I currently hold my CE in Dance education and will be working as a full time dance teacher in a public high school. My responsibilities in this position will include:*Devising weekly lesson plans that address the New Jersey student learning standards that will also keep my students engaged and enthusiastic. *My main goal is to always create a positive and dynamic learning environment for my students.*Through volunteering at an extended school year education program, I was able to teach adolescent and young adult students dance lessons that may impact their lives and inspire them to continue enrolling in dance education. *I had the opportunity to observe a former professional dancer who became a dance teacher to instruct high school students of all levels and abilities. I found this observation to be a valuable resource when planning my own classes and incorporating some of her teaching technique and classroom management style into my own lessons.*Making sure I stay current and informed on the development of effective teaching practices.
