Intern
Supervisor
Throughout my time at Jack Wills I developed and took on more responsibility such as training and rotas. As well as working in my own store I helped to open the Milton Keynes store and covered management shortage and holiday in the Witney and Newbury stores – using my initiative to run stores as the lone manager in an environment I was unfamiliar with. Main Responsibilities:• Full control and accountability for the rota, shift swaps and holiday requests.• CV screening, recruitment, training, till training and inductions (including health and safety).• Presenting at training evenings.Other duties included:• Managing and training a large team of young people (approx. 30) in order to ensure company budgets and KPI targets were met.• Ensuring the shop floor is fully replenished and commercially merchandised and adhering to visual guides for shop floor fixtures, windows and mannequins. • Managing back of house admin and procedures including managing the mail order system and delivery process.• Managing store emails and communications with head office, including reporting and new employee admin.• Conducting floor walks with the area manager and talking through commercial decisions.• Taking responsibility for the security of the store including locking up, key-holding and cash control. • Processing staff discount and other complex transactions on the till system.• Reading and analysing category reports and merchandising the store accordingly and comparing like for like information in order to analyse trading patterns. • Conducting return to work interviews and dealing with employee behaviour issues fairly and firmly.• One to one CRM/Data Capture training for employees who were struggling to meet targets.• Confidently use EZLM, ADP Freedom, “Quantiv” (back of house system), Beanstore (till system) and excel.• Shortly before leaving my role I trained my replacement in all of the above.
Team Leader
I started at Hobbs as a sales assistant and was asked to step up as key-holder in January 2014 to support management shortages. When we were made redundant due to store closure my role was promoted to Team Leader to reflect my hard work and to support the closedown and redundancy process in the final 6 weeks.• Working efficiently and effectively to meet targets and maintain K.P.I’s by managing and training the team (approx. 15 people) and leading by example in giving excellent customer service.• Taking sole responsibility for the safety and security of the store and staff when managers were not present (including opening and closing).• Showing understanding and patience when dealing with a high volume of non-English speaking customers.• Having extensive knowledge of the till system in order to cash up, balance the tills, process refunds and complex transactions and process staff uniform and discounts.• Communicating with the management team, area manager, value retail management and head office.• Managing and inducting temporary agency members of staff.• Dealing with staff issues fairly, professionally and competently through constructive feedback and effective delegation of day-to-day tasks by ensuring I played to the strengths of individual members of the team.
Sales Assistant / Keyholder
Sales Advisor
• Attending the till, watch and jewellery counter and ensuring the stock is secure. • Ensuring a high standard of tidiness. • Preparation for sales and discount events.• Visual merchandising.• Cashing up.• Taking sole responsibility for the department at non-peak trading times.
Sales Associate
• Giving exceptional customer service when manning the till, fitting room and front of store.• Adhering to visual merchandising guidelines including being selected to partake in night shifts for phase change. • Stocktake and back of house duties.• Preserving a presentable sales floor.• Working four notoriously busy sales and being awarded fastest till user throughout the store on Boxing Day. • Undertaking ‘Team Coach’ responsibilities involving management of less experienced colleagues particularly at the till point where I was appointed ‘Head Cashier’ to process complex transactions that would normally require a managers code. • Training and coaching new members of the team and ensuring that they are made to feel welcome.
