History Teacher, Explorations Coordinator, and Coach at the Derryfield SchoolA dynamic and engaging history teacher- I specialize in helping students see themselves in the histories they encounter. Every student is a product and shaper history. As I guide them through that process, I aim to give them tools, not opinions, to allow them to build new narratives or dismantle old ones through critical engagement, in-depth analysis, and reflection on historical content. We achieve this in various ways: games, debates, papers, journaling, interactive maps, documentaries, think pair share exercises, and more...Along with leading students in the classroom, I am also an active coach within the community, having worked with cross country, track and field, basketball, and football programs.In addition, I currently oversee all clubs and student interest groups as Explorations Coordinator. This role helps facilitate student leadership through running a club or organization geared toward academic, community, or service-oriented goals. The hope is to further student leadership through self-guided and faculty-mentored programs that are both student-created and school-supported. These activities enhance the student experience while bolstering faculty who have additional talents to share.
