At Port 393 I am developing venue coordination skills through first hand experience planning events, managing events, setting up and tearing down events, giving tours to prospective clients, and assisting in daily operations. Additionally, I audit and create marketing and public relations materials, creating clear and effective channels of communication between clients and the business.

As an office assistant at the Hope College Academic Success Center I ensured all operations ran smoothly by answering phone calls, scheduling appointments and checking people in, helping address questions and concerns, and assisting professors with various tasks. These roles taught me the importance of clear and effective communication between the department's in the office and the students, and I gained a greater appreciation for strong organizational communication.

Options And Advocacy For Mchenry County

During the summer of 2019, I worked with Leadership Greater McHenry County (LGMC), a non-profit that seeks to bring together local government officials, community opinion leaders, and businesses with the goal of fostering dialogue, leadership, community, and change across the private and public sector. I gained knowledge on the inner-workings of non-profits through weekly professional development seminars on marketing, finance, and executive director responsibilities. As part of this internship, I completed a rigorous leadership training program and was paired with a local non-profit resource and healthcare coordination agency. I worked to develop communication and marketing tools for this non-profit and aided the organization in its rebranding process. Focused on its new mission statement and driven by its core values, I created marketing materials such as brochures and social media content to clearly convey its new message to its target publics. After seeing firsthand the struggles families go through to access quality healthcare, I have a greater understanding and appreciation of the complexities of the healthcare system and I desire to bring transparency and efficiency to the process.
