Work closely with AIG in-house legal counsel in conducting routine and complex legal assignments. As a licensed attorney, I am authorized to perform routine legal assignments independently, subject to general legal review. This includes using my broad knowledge of federal and state environmental law in reviewing insured contracts, conducting legal research and answering questions of law, drafting new policy language, and negotiating coverage with the brokerage community. I also assist higher level attorneys on broader and more complex legal assignments.Support AIG environmental claims attorneys in preparing claims for mediation, arbitration, and litigation. Each insurance policy includes a duty to defend the insured on all claims submitted by third parties. As the underwriter for these accounts, I assist AIG claims and litigation counsel with interpreting the intent of the policy and develop legal strategy for processing the claim. This collaboration continues throughout the claims process, including necessary litigation, through resolution of the claim.Underwrite environmental exposures at locations including airports, industrial sites, and other high-risk properties for potential environmental insurance coverage. This skill requires a comprehensive understanding of most federal and state environmental regulations in order to evaluate risks presented by these properties.Organize, structure, and complete assignments and accounts on time and at expected standards. Due to the heavy workload of accounts and assignments, I have developed superior organization skills to ensure on-time completion. This includes prioritizing accounts based on complexity and expected deadlines. Clearly and persuasively present and defend findings of legal assignments and the underwriting process to senior attorneys, management, and third parties. Collaborate with AIG legal and management to resolve complex and unique environmental risks. Draft all relevant policy documentation.

Supported EPA attorneys in implementing agency regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to enforcement of federal environmental law. Collaborated with both EPA attorneys and program personnel regarding case discovery, development, and resolution. Conducted legal research and analyzed questions of law.Drafted legal documents including briefs, administrative orders, complaints, and consent decrees. Researched and drafted legal memorandum relating to analysis of environmental regulations, the Federal Rules of Evidence, and Administrative Procedures Act. Prepared written comments and recommendations used by EPA attorneys for case enforcement and resolution. Organized and structured legal assignments to ensure on time completion at the highest levels of quality.Assisted on special projects including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis for a proposed Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River flood plain project.
