Working with Youth has been a lifelong career choice. I started working with the Y in 2017. Membership was my entry position knowing that as soon as the opportunity presented itself, I would transition to the Youth Department. I simultaneously worked in the Youth department as a Program Assistant after 1.5 years into my position as a membership rep I & II. I was offered the position of the Youth Coordinator by the sitting coordinator as her replacement. I left membership engagement and became the Youth Program Coordinator full time. I worked with the after school program called Launch Pad for youth ages 12-18 years old. After Covid19 shut us down, the Linwood Y reopened as Essential Childcare on the Youth Development Services side where I became a Learning Coach. During that Summer, I was promoted to Co- Site Supervisor. During the school year, I became the lead Site supervisor for the new, Learning Academy Program & also assisted the Executive Director as a DOD (Director on duty) and youth liaison at meetings with community partners and future community partners. Since the Learning Academy/ SPARK program wasn't continued at Linwood at that time, I transferred to the SMSD as a Youth Development Site Lead at two schools for the YDS before/after school program. Oct 7th, 2021, I went back to the Missouri side as the Youth and Family Coordinator at the New Downtown, Kirk Family Y. I take pride in helping to improve the culture in which our youth thrive and develop life enhancing skills and talents in my neighborhood first and foremost. I worked there until I was asked to return to Linwood to Supervise the Summer SPARK Camp Program and I accepted. My new job started May 30th, 2023. Once camp ended, I became the Site Supervisor of the Launch Pad After School Program once again and all other youth programming plus, creating and cultivating partnerships on their behalf. It has been quite the journey.
