Assistant House Supervisor, Avalon House
CurrentAvalon is a Level 14 group home for dual diagnosed, severely emotionally disturbed and developmentally delayed youth ages 12-19, with program capacity of 14 and current residency of 10. MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISION:• Manage full HR responsibilities for swing shift team of six, from interviewing through training, coaching, mentoring, evaluation and disciplinary action. Frequently supervise day treatment and night shifts as well, up to 30 line staff.• Supervise up to 30 line staff in absence of House Supervisor.• Manage program budget, disburse funds, maintain records. • Manage daily schedule of staff assignments to facilitate efficient workflow. • Coach staff to problem-solve around client needs. Foster best practices, resolve performance issues.• Participate in management meetings; make recommendations regarding policy decisions and treatment issues.• Write incident reports, participate in employee injury investigations. Meet with licensing analysts.• Represent Avalon on FFYC's Co-Occurring Change Agent Committee, a capacity-building group promoting the agency's co-occurring capabilities and making improvements in agency practices, policies and procedures. DIRECT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES:• As member of treatment team, provide direct care, facilitate therapy and other groups and dispense medications. Perform clinical on-call duties. Contribute to crisis management and discharge planning. • Respond to crises and emergencies. Coordinate with law enforcement and hospitals.• Coordinate with schools, medical personnel, employment resources, county workers and probation officers. NOTEWORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:• Maintain low turnover and increase performance among direct reports by providing strong developmental coaching. • Work hard to help employees feel valued; encourage awareness of their work's meaning and importance.• Maintain welcoming, responsive relationships with CASA workers, licensing analysts and other agency representatives.
