Directs and monitors the activities of the first line Family Independence Managers and Assistance Payments Supervisors in a Dept. of Health and Human Services local office. This position is responsible for the administration of the Family Independence Program and other services programs administered by the Dept. of Health and Human Services. The Family Independence Manager provides support, direction and serves as the resource person to subordinate staff to ensure proper application of policies and procedures for various social service programs. Assist with the integration of program support between Administrative Support, IT and Fiscal Units to enhance agency outcomes.

Conduct federally mandated quality control reviews per federal statutes and regulations governing the Food Assistance Program (FAP). Review FAP case records gather data and conduct interviews while utilizing analytical methods to measure recipient eligibility and benefit decisions' validity and accuracy. Continually evaluate and analyze the data collection process to avoid biased results. Provide senior leaders with data used to evaluate department program and system performance, identifying, and solving problems to improve the quality of service delivery. Served as an expert on the development and implementation of major administrative policies and requirements for substantive, mission-oriented programs. Recommended and participated in developing strategies for implementing planning for a major office or program.

Worked with local schools to develop, implement, and monitor service plans for students and families, designed to promote independence and self-sufficiency. Worked directly with clients to assess their skills and strengths, identify client barriers to employment and developed strategies to remove those barriers, provide supportive services, and follow-up monitoring and support in self-sufficient activities. Oversaw various professional assignments that provided services to socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in programs administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
