Role in the NZ Army:Working in the army brings with it a high adherence to standards and discipline. Often work would be conducted in small teams (about 2-4) over my approximately 6 year career I have fulfilled roles as both a member of the team and in command of the team. These positions were usually put to practice when taking part in military exercises.Role in IT:The primary role of the Information Systems Operator dealt with the deployment and administration of an air-gapped network. Working in this role earned training towards the qualification MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator)My responsibilities in this role included:• Providing information systems support to clients• Providing organization intranet capabilities during operational and training exercises• Provided leadership and supervision to the detachment as second in command• Instructed in training courses for new soldiers posting into the unit• Help-desk operation and troubleshooting user issuesRole in PT:While in the military I was offered the opportunity to attend the APTI (Assistant Physical Training Instructor) course held at the Woodburn Air Force base. This course included content on taking group training sessions and developing an understanding of how exercises could be applied and the muscles of the body that would be impacted, as well as coverage over general human anatomy. This role operated in addition to my role in IT.My responsibilities for this role included:• Conducting squadron PT sessions• Assisting PTI's with their class setup and execution• Providing training advice and assistance to squadron members
