I was the first employee on payroll at Lumio. It was so high energy at the beginning. I got to help create the Logo with Daniel & JJ. Fitch came in and took the brand to another level and I got to take part in that too! I set up the first wifi network and chose the password lol. I worked with the brokers and bought the Lumio.com domain. It was so fun in those early days... all hope and excitement. So many firsts for Lumio and I was front row. I'm truly grateful I got to experience it. It started as an idea around a kitchen table lead by Jonathan Gibbs. He pulled together a team of young talented founders from other regional solar companies to join the team. They had fight in them, and they wanted to build something new and fresh. Building Lumio was one of the most rewarding and daunting experiences of my career. I was so honored to work with some absolutely stellar people there. As you can imagine it was quite the roller coaster ride filled with thrilling ups and downs. Solar is a complicated space these days, but I truly hope the industry makes the necessary adjustments to continue putting glass on roofs and generating clean energy for families in America. My belief is the solar company who can create a Solar "pull" product/experience will win long term. Right now it's still door knocking (one of the hardest jobs imo), outbound call centers, digital ads and mailers. Tons of marketing efforts up front to find a deal. The end users/customers have to pay/finance all those marketing dollars in their solar deal. The finance companies also have very high 30%+ dealer fees on the financing. Solar could be much more affordable if it could be financed differently and if the marketing efforts required weren't so costly. Here's hoping someone figures it out one day. That's what we set out to do at Lumio, I hope their team will achieve it. If not Lumio... maybe one day, someone will. My hat will be off to them! Show less
