Editor In Chief
I was the editor in chief of a film publication called BigLens. I was editor for three years and I enjoyed all the challenges it provided. As our writers had free reign over what to write, it means that I had to keep abreast about any matter concerning film that they chose to write about. The job also required organisational and management skills. I had to ensure that all the writers were working to their deadline and that I was available at any time to provide help or advice with their articles. It was also my job to liaise with the printers and manage the budget. It also consisted of considerable amounts of paperwork that had to be precise and completed on time with our deadlines.
Radio Presenter
Whilst at University, I had two concurrent radio shows on FM radio station CSR. One of the shows was a weekly film show, which involved discussing current releases as well as talking on a particular topic each week. Both shows required considerable preparation, as well as a high technical level in order to operate the equipment.
Volunteer
I had many roles including contacting the press to alert and encourage them to attend the event, and also contacting companies to achieve sponsorship and products for the guests and stars in attendance. I spent time during the festival itself ensuring the comfort of all the guests and visitors, and was also commissioned to make a documentary about the festival. This involved shooting footage through all the early development stages, up to the awards ceremony itself, where I conducted interviews on the red carpet and filmed the awards being announced and accepted.
