I managed 2 teams. One team was a fullstack engineering team that consisted of 5 members. We were responsible for creating and maintaining the customer-facing Patient Experience Survey website that handled over 1 million requests per day. PES was a website and also an API used by internal services and 3rd party partners. The infrastructure was based on microservices and ran in AWS and was designed for NFRs such as high availability, scalability, and resiliency. To meet these NFRs, AWS PaaS messaging products were used such as SQS, SNS, and Lamdba.The other team I lead was responsible for building and maintaining the environment that ingests, integrate real-time data pipelines on Enterprise Data platform and provide interfaces for consumption layer for both internal and client analytics. I was responsible for architecture and development of the Risk Management Platform (RMP). RMP is a real-time risk assessment and fraud detection rules engine that is critical to Western Union’s money transfer business line. RMP examines all Western Union online transactions for fraud risk. RMP evaluates hundreds of thousands of transactions per day that total millions of dollars in principal. Because of the critical nature of this system, it had to be highly available. My responsibilities included development, system design, database design, ETL, capacity planning, troubleshooting, high availability, disaster recovery, software design, software development, creating proofs-of-concepts, and evaluating vendor offerings and businesses processes.
