The successes that I have enjoyed as a planner come from collaboration and communication. Planning is a team effort requiring interaction with diverse groups of stakeholders, committees and boards. I have worked successfully in many organizations by understanding and respecting their jurisdictional authority and coordinating those efforts across of myriad of topics. My communication skills include writing and public speaking and most importantly listening. I break down complex information into digestible bites. As our world changes we must constantly be seeking better ways to connect with our constituents. I have an excellent rapport with people by making them feel comfortable and valued. Whatever the available resources are there is none more important than an engaged and motivated staff. Planning requires coordinating a balanced relationship between environmental protection and economic progress to protect the unique values and quality of life in a New England town.
