Stationed aboard two afloat commands, USS Hayler DD-997 and USS John Hancock DD-981, primary responsibilities included Under Water Fire Control, Sonar Supervisor, and Combat System two Work Center Supervisor.Thomas followed his afloat tour at Fleet Training Center Mayport, billeted for instructor duty. Classes of instruction qualified to teach, Under Water Submarine Warfare, LoFar Gram Analysis, Visit, Board, Search and Seizure.Thomas was one of four instructors to become qualified to instruct three different courses and was 90% complete with his fourth course of instruction. Thomas also attained the Naval Master Training Specialist qualification.
