Company Owner
Lead Ux Designer
Assisted the Newswire’s Product Team in developing their overall identity when it comes to the layout of the customer funnels, dashboards for Newswire admins, and concepting additional solutions for users. In addition to this, assisted the marketing team with case studies, logo developments, and presentations. All aspects of my work at Newswire existed in an agile environment. We utilized Atlassian Jira and its adjacent softwares for the assignment of projects, taking days off, and scheduling calls with members in other departments of the company, just to name a few examples. Our work week would consist of a sprint that would begin on Wednesday, in which we would be assigned our tasks, or we would have the floor to announce certain issues we found in the functioning of the Newswire platform albeit in mobile, desktop, or e-commerce, with one of the funnels. However, once assigned my task I would usually discuss this further with the project manager, product team lead, and the team of software engineers, all on call, to gain full scope of the complaints, errors, research gathered, what’s possible, and what/how our competitors are handling this same issue. From there, I set about doing my own research, mostly, to run into those addressed errors, and issues, experienced by our customers and in-house editors. It is here I begin to write bullet points, sketch wireframes, and write out how the information architecture should flow. Once I have this information, I’m able to turn out a workflow diagram that would serve as a solution to the problem while working on a prototype to present to my team, and eventually the owners and investors of the company. Once having my prototype and presenting it in the next up-coming sprint, I take the feedback given by the product team leader, engineers, managers and revamp the said changes before presenting the owners for their approval, or denial of the proposed solution.
Multimedia Specialist
I have, and will always have, a place in my heart for startups. My independent practice has allowed me to do work for various companies albeit, startups - domestic and foreign -, established brands, in various industries offering services ranging from Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, UI/UX Design, Full Stack and Web Development.
Product Designer
Developed Town of Forkland overall identity, including logo, stationary, and internal branding; this included posters, logo animations, and website banners. In addition to this, I also prototyped their initial website, managed building it in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, and Ruby-on-Rails. Also, I led, and overseen, a redesign in React/Redux with a NoSQL database.I was tasked with the creation of an identity campaign to rebrand the town; however, the main overall objective was to create a platform, in which users could make payments, look up current events, and get information about new initiatives to aid the community. This would be easy to use, responsive in design, and nature, and built with equity, to ensure comfort. The process of research, wireframing, user flow, and presentation to the local council took a month, and two weeks. Please keep in mind that this also included the rebrand of the town - with creation of a logo, set to be used across stationary, the web application, and clothing for staff, volunteers, and retail. The entire vision for the Town of Forkland was to brand itself in a way as some other major towns, and cities, like Atlanta, GA or St.Petersburg, FL. Moreover, for the web application, I want to create a platform that would allow all users the freedom to understand their website immediately. This meant clear navigation, along with the use of iconography, that was to the point, and recognizable imagery of services that they knew they could trust when it comes to making payments on the platforms - plus it was streamlined across all devices. This prototype was made possible because of the great exchange of communication with myself and the Town of Forkland when it came to must-haves, and elements that would allow greater ease of use.
Motion Graphic Specialist
Managed and distributed tasks in graphic design, motion graphics, production graphics, social media marketing graphics, 3D animation, and 3D mockups to other team members. Assisted Activ8 Media firm with outside clients (MaxEffortMuscle.com, Business and Biceps Podcast, and Ultimate Fighting Championship) with print/digital design. My overall responsibility for Activ8 Media was to create, cut, edit, and produce their social media series Activ8 Daily, in which the co-founders, Cory Gregory and John Fosco, covered the latest news in sports along with giving health and fitness advice - this series went on to become The Business and Biceps Podcast. In addition to producing their social media series, I was responsible for some marketing for majors brands represented by Activ8 Media like UFC, MMA Junkie, and MusclePharm, this included promotional graphic pieces - magazine spreads, posters, etc.Another opportunity that working with Activ8 Media afforded me was the handling of the initial campaign of their supplementation line MaxEffortMuscle.com. I took it upon myself to create social media marketing - animations, posters, GIFs, YouTube clips featuring guest athletes - for a variety of platforms that was cohesive, and carried the vintage humor, that existed with the MaxEffortMuscle.com brand persona.
Web Developer And Graphic Designer
Responsible for helping Black Belt Community Foundation establish their imagery, and messaging, to attract their dedicated contributors. Designed event posters, retouched images, provided social media content, edited video, and maintained backend programming. My overall responsibility included managing the Black Belt Community Foundation website that was constructed in Wordpress, PHP/MySQL - correcting minor errors in the website’s functioning; and redesigning the elements on the frontend with HTML and CSS. Other duties included designing posters for upcoming events in various locations in West Alabama to help social causes for which the charity stands. I also made available on the Black Belt Community Foundation website forms, grants and ways of donation, which users could visit the website and fill-out at their leisure. My time at Black Belt Community Foundation meant alot to me because working for a charity was something I deeply wanted to do; and having an opportunity to do that for a charity that is present in my community was awesome.
Ux Developer
A startup that I helped co-founded and contributed to in 2012. Functioned as creative director handling graphic design, motion graphics, videography, UI/UX design and development, social media marketing, and animation; to establish and launch the first campaigns of the clothing streetwear brand.I, at The Loveless, functioned as the Product Designer. This included doing the product research, interacting with our potential users, albeit, in person, and through surveys. The overall objective was to build The Loveless into a premiere streetwear brand. In addition to doing user research, I was also responsible for the creation of the website, which functioned as a blog, to follow the lifestyles of the founders, and a store, which retailed T-shirts, Crewnecks, Pants, and limited release snapback caps - I constructed the website with HTML, CSS, JavaScript,PHP, and MySQL in Adobe Dreamweaver. On the other end, as creative director, I crafted multiple campaigns for each release that included posters, GIFs, Videos, Video Series, and Artist Promotional material for cross promotions in other cities.
Graphic Web Designer
Contributed logo designs, UI/UX designs, motion graphics and other mock-ups, mostly used in actualizations to help with the pitch of the COPEtv platform. This opportunity allowed me to work with more experienced individuals than myself, that helped me function in a team environment. COPEtv, was a concept meant to promote artists - musical acts, actors, and a myriad of other creatives. However, when I was brought along all we had was a skeleton, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, that was useless, it didn’t function. We had no choice but to start from scratch. I took it upon myself to go with the creation of an identity, working on the logo, color scheme, and a tagline that could some up the overall mission we wish to accomplish. Along with working on these aspects, I assisted the backend developer with other parts of the database. This required intense communication making sure the deadline of deliverables was due in the upcoming month. I was able to achieve an identity for the brand as well as video promotional material that would be presented for the launch of COPEtv.
Motion Graphic Designer
Contributed skills as a graphic designer and multimedia artist– providing album art, image retouching, motion graphics, logo design, and social media animations – to help Agape Music Group promote young musicians and producers in the Orlando area. I, while at Agape Music, was tasked with creating various cover art for artists’ albums, posters, and videos. Outside of the artist artwork, I assisted with the creation of a web design for the group - this would allow users to view new music video releases, stream free music, and download artists’ mixtapes while allowing users to purchase additional material such as t-shirts, and albums.
Graphic Designer
Responsible for giving Romantic Productions, a local student run music studio, a persona, and imagery, through graphic design, motion graphics, social media marketing, and UI/UX Design. Since Romantic Productions was an online record label, it was an interesting challenge, at that point in time, to give each artist on the label their own imaging and branding. This was meant to carry over their entire motif of their up-and-coming EP, LP, or mixtape. My experience with Romantic Productions not only allowed me to work with various creatives, of a myriad of backgrounds, but also to learn more about the online record label startups. Romantic Productions allowed me the opportunity to utilize all my skills. I was able to create a web design layout for the label that would let users easily find music videos, albums, mixtapes, merchandise, and social media outlets that promoted their in-house artists. In addition to this, I assisted with album artwork, music video editing and special effects, artist photography, and social media campaigns promotions.
