My background includes: 5+ years of experience as an emergency medical technician.I have been at DispatchHealth as a DispatchHealth Medical Technician (DHMT) in the Richmond, VA market for 4+ years and am the longest tenured RIC DHMT. Recently I pivoted to working the “Hybrid” modality full time where I am paired with remote/virtual nurse practitioners and physician assistants and “present” patients to them via technology assisted exams. I have worked the Hybrid modality role for nearly 4 years since its inception in the Richmond market as the “Telepresentation” pilot before it was restructured. I also am a market trainer for the role, am a member of the company’s national safety committee, and held other various support roles within the RIC market.I have seen patients in a variety of modalities, mostly within the home: urgent acute care, post-acute or bridge care following discharge from a local hospital, and hybrid telehealth or telepresentation. This is on top of my experience in volunteer 911 emergency medical services (EMS), inpatient pediatric acute, and intensive care, as well as critical care in the emergency department. Additionally, I have experience in leadership, coaching, and operational efficiencies from my time as a volunteer EMT as a crew chief and board member. Technologically savvy, a quick learner, and champion of thinking outside the box while promoting quality and safety. I am very passionate about the way in which we deliver care, and have had the honor to meet patients where they are and provide quality healthcare without the need of traditional brick-and-mortar facilities.My goal is to expand my broad knowledge of the United States healthcare system as I finish my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services with a General Business minor at Virginia Commonwealth University. I hope to expand not only my clinical knowledge, but my capabilities with a unique understanding of how the healthcare system works and operates for better patient care overall. Following the completion of my bachelor’s degree and graduation, I intend to explore my options for career advancement. I am weighing my options of potential new challenges and prospects, while also eyeing further educational pursuits in clinical practice and in business within the healthcare system.
