I operate and maintain a secure network routing, switching and wireless infrastructure, and be able to troubleshoot the network, VPN, and Voice over IP issues. I accomplish this using EIGRP & OSPF, eBGP & iBGP, RSPT, HSRP, and LACP protocols. I am responsible to install, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment, software, and circuits following recognized industry standards. I respond to incident and request tickets; resolve within agreed upon SLA (service level agreements). I am the Cisco ISE administrator and am responsible for the day to day operations, maintenance, updating, and upgrading of a 4 node cluster. I also monitor and proactively discover events that may negatively impact IT services utilizing NetBrain and SolarWinds monitoring software. I do implement required changes in compliance with the IT change management process. Participate in problem management discussion to determine root causes of network problems. I ensure network system configurations delivers or exceeds agreed availability and reliability. Maintain multiple (owned and leased) WAN (wide area network) circuits. I review system logs and alerts and responds according to documented procedures. I frequently analyze performance trends, identifies workflows or technology gaps, and recommend changes to improve the quality and efficiency of networks, systems, and security. I also utilize enterprise-level thinking to enhance the security and stability of the network environment, mentor & support junior administrators in troubleshooting and provide feedback. Finally, I implement ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) based processes and procedures; promote standard operating procedures to ensure key performance indicators are achieved and develop processes and procedures to meet or exceed operational SLAs with the business partners.

As a tier 3 network engineering contractor for the CMS Eligibility Support Federal contract I designed, planned, implemented, documented, and troubleshot the CMS data centers, core, and access networks as they relate to application data flow and interoperability. I used OSPF, eBGP, and iBGP routing protocols to support this network's routing capabilities and Nexus vPC technologies is certain segments of the server farms. I have designed, implemented, and maintain a fully automated fail-over infrastructure in the WAN edge with Lumen's MPLS circuits that connect CMS's major call center sites together with its main Data Center. I maintained particular emphasis on end-to-end application delivery, IP address management, infrastructure and application monitoring, and the application of new technologies following Cisco and other networking industry best practices. I created and maintained network/data path documentation relating to application and service delivery using both Microsoft Office products including Visio and SharePoint applications at OSI Layer 1-7. Maintained IPAM via SolarWinds for current and future network scalability as well as operate as SME on interconnected diverse systems in the environment from a network engineer perspective. I also maintained current and establish functional monitoring capabilities across all IT network infrastructure to include network, server, application, and end user services using both SolarWinds, Splunk Syslogs, NetBrain and NetScout applications. I provided network architectural insight and oversight into projects and maintenance activity for change approval processes, again based on Cisco's Validated Designs and Best Practices. As a contractor I provided level 3 network engineering support to Medtronic’s Health Informatics & Management product known as Vital Sync. I thoroughly understood the networking portion of the installation process, created/maintained documentation so support activities can be understood and executed with minimal guidance by others. I utilized multiple sources of information to work with Medtronic installer and customers IT staff to resolve systemic network issues that can affect the performance and operation of Vital Sync. I analyzed and understood the site assessment for WLAN and other network methodologies used to plan and deploy Vital Sync with Sales Engineering teams. I was responsible for creating additional site-specific documentation from the analysis that can be understood and utilized with minimal guidance by others. My additional duty was to provide level 3 network engineering support for all other Medtronic Health Informatics & Management products and answering the deeper questions posed by customers while escalating to level 4(R&D), as appropriate. I also deployed networking software tools that enabled field installations and configurations to be analyzed post installation. When permitted by the customer, I worked remotely on their network equipment to verify, update, and analyze configurations which includes Layer2/3 switches, routers, access points, wireless LAN controllers, serial-to-LAN bridges, firewalls, and load-balancers.

As a subcontractor working for TEKSystems and then as a Leidos employee, I operated, maintained, designed, and planned network communications and security systems for the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). I provided specifications and detailed schematics for current and future network architecture. I also provided specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business & security needs, including present and future capacity requirements. I evaluated and reported on new communications and security technologies to enhance capabilities of the currently deployed network. I contributed directly to the development of Concept of Operations documents, Requirements documents, design documents and drawings to include documentation for all network changes including public facing DMZ equipment. I was responsible for maintaining a secure networking environment based on industry best practices for security standards in conjunction with USAP policies. I furnished engineering support to IT and InfoSec departments for new deployments, enhancements, or modifications to IT systems, both on and off the Antarctic continent. I conducted testing of proposed network designs and production networks by isolating faults and diagnose system failures to resolve problems in a methodical, thorough, and timely manner. I maintained technical expertise in all areas of USAP networks, computer hardware, and software interconnection including interfacing on network equipment like routers, switches, multiplexers, load balancers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Finally, I rotated on-call support with other team members as required.

As a subcontractor working for TEKSystems Inc. I was tasked with maintaining, monitoring, and managing the AFIN classified and unclassified network infrastructure supporting internal and external connectivity for a large enterprise network. I was also tasked with configuring and troubleshooting the various Cisco routers, L2/L3 switches, application security appliances, application control engines, and VoIP telephones at the access, distribution, and core layers of the AFIN enterprise infrastructure. I was responsible for working with the network management team to resolve problems associated with the wide area network links. I also worked with each individual base network control center and/or their contractors to resolve problems associated with the connectivity of the enterprise networks. My other duties included maintaining existing physical layer architecture of the enterprise networks; physical layer architecture consists of but is not limited to cables, fiber, patch panels, fiber distribution panels, connectors and terminators. Maintained mirrored site hardware, software, backups and documentation. Participated in the Change Management process. Managed firewalls and web proxies, remotely manage boundary protection devices at remote locations, and support visiting inspection teams to include the provisioning of access to the networks, network devices, etc.

As a subcontractor working for TEKSystems and then as a Qualis Corp. employee, I worked as an Enterprise Network Design Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency's IT Services organization on the Joint National Integration Center Research & Development Contract program based at Schriever AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado. My assignment was to design, configure, install, and test the IT network and security systems primarily consisting of Cisco Enterprise & Branch level routers, switches, Palo Alto firewalls (via Panorama), and Riverbed load balancers in a Microsoft Windows based LAN/WAN environment spanning the globe. I was responsible for deriving system-level requirements from architectural guidelines and project objectives to include DMZ and data centers. My other duties included developing detailed designs with supporting implementation, test, and transition plans that included network security. I was also responsible for ushering proposed system changes through the Configuration Management process to successful implementation for transition to the Operations & Maintenance Role Based Administration teams.

As a Network WAN Engineer, I supported my employer's federal project, in Fort Collins Colorado, in the Network Management Support Services (NMSS) section of the USDA. I provided the USDA technical oversight of the network infrastructure, critical, customer-centric coordination functions internally and with external carriers, and provided superior customer support. As the Network Engineer, I supported an enterprise environment supporting extensive technical product experience in network security controls including, firewalls devices, Intrusion Prevention and Detection solutions. I assisted customers in interface testing, troubleshooting, and support as well as coordinated the resolution of technical issues with the customer, vendor, and staff. I also coordinated the delivery of highly responsive customer service and support and demonstrate ability to manage to a high level of customer satisfaction. My responsibilities included but were not limited to the following: coordinated schedule third party installation, maintenance of network hardware, software, telecommunications services, and monitored and maintained network stability. I communicated and coordinated network schedules and downtime to users. Prepared and maintained network documentation, managed the integration of vendor tasks, and tracked and reviewed vendor deliverables. I used strong analytical and communications skills for On-Call duty rotation as required.

I was the supervisor of the Energy Management Control Shop at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. I was also the network administrator of an Industrial Control System (ICS) using Motorola Canopy™ Wireless LAN Bridge network. This network is completely isolated from the internet and the USAF intranet. At the time it consists of 104 wireless nodes, over 1335 programmable logic controllers (PLC) devices, 110 Cisco Catalyst managed switches (Models 2960 and 3560), 7 rack mounted Dell servers, 22 desktop, laptop and Thin Client devices including 2 printers, and 1 Cisco 1841 Router for backup Inter-VLAN Routing. I also programmed numerous Cisco & Motorola devices on a weekly basis. This programming is necessary to maintain switching efficiency, to troubleshoot any loss of communications to the PLC out in the field over the network, & when changes in security are required. I was responsible for checking all event logs on the Windows Server 2003 systems, configuring group policies, and maintaining the Active Directory Users and Computers that need network services. Finally, I maintained a Symantec Endpoint Protection Server by ensuring that all available anti-virus services are deployed to clients and the needed anti-virus signatures are updated. I supervised a technical team of 3 employees that were responsible for the programming, installation, & maintenance of the 1335 plus ICS field devices & their electro-mechanical actuators. I scheduled employee workloads and arrange for any resources needed to accomplish said workloads. I was responsible for maintaining shop safety, for financial resources totaling $250k per year on average, and for any other instructions given by my supervisors or the Air Force. I wrote network security reports and implemented various security commands in all networking equipment & hosts. I was responsible for advising other managers & engineers on USAF energy management policies from a technical standpoint and, when required, implementing these policies.
