I was an Interim Programme Manager within the finance department of multinational grocer and general merchandiser. This was a temporary position as I was covering for a colleague on long term leave. The goal of the programme was to build various tools that enabled faster analytics of financial data. This would lead to more accurate and up to date financial reporting and insight. My role was to enable and oversee the delivery of 5 Engineering & Data Science teams. Not long after I started, the decision was taken to pause the programme and ramp down from 5 to 2 teams due to budget constraints. Therefore, the majority of my time was spent supporting and enabling the Delivery Managers to manage this change. - Supporting the team’s Delivery Managers with their new financial and people forecasts- Clarifying new scope and budgets- Establishing new governance and meeting cadence structure- Supporting off boarding and documentation activities for the affected teamsDespite LinkedIn's labelling, I was in this position for about 6 weeks. Working with the Department for Transport to update and modernise the NaPTAN Dataset services. NaPTAN Stands for the National Public Transport Access Nodes and it is a dataset that houses every public transport nodes (such as bus stops and rail stations) in the UK. This dataset is used by multiple consumers for various reasons, including major providers of mapping software such as Google Maps. I am working as the Delivery Principal on this account which means I am part of the Thoughtworks client leadership team and take accountability and ownership of all things related to the commercials, growth of the account and the successful delivery of the team. In my time on the account, the following points stand out as achievements:- Identified how and where to split up various services into Minimal Viable Products in order to deliver the value to users quicker and then iterate upon their feedback. - Taken one service from an Alpha, into a Private Beta, iterated upon user feedback and then launched the service to the entire user base as an Open Beta. (The new service is faster, cheaper and more secure). - Taken another service into Private Beta and begun user research to iterate upon the MVP we’ve delivered. - Followed GDS guidelines and gone through the rigorous public sector assessment process. - Using a #NoEstimates method to size work and forecast delivery dates to the stakeholders. - Drastically reduced silos and increased collaboration by using various self-made tools, practices and ceremonies. - Aided in the recruitment of new Developers into Department for Transport.
