Leading a multi disciplinary team of 110 officers and staff across 2 bases and 4 shift patterns.I have geographical command of CID South dealing with serious and complex investigations. My responsibility covers the large geographical area across the county councils of North Somerset and unitary authority of Somerset, three Neighbourhood and response policing areas.

I lead a force wide team of investigators spread across multiple sites, dealing with serious and complex crime. I lead the culture and leadership pillar of our current Transformation programme, working closely with partners AC oss the organisation to improve leadership training, engagement and behaviours.

I lead the Contingency Planning team and the Local Resilience Forum Secretariat. We are key stakeholders in the Avon and Somerset LRF, working closely with partner agencies from Blue Light services, local authorities and voluntary sector. My team sit within the Operations Department. My responsibilities also includes the Accountable Manager and Force Lead for Drones (a fast growing and developing technology in policing). During my time leading this innovation we have expanded from 4 part time pilots to an established full time capability or 1 Sgt and 6 officers, with a total of 27 pilots including 4 special constables, building resilience and succession into our capability. In doing so we save valuable time in deployment, resources of specialist units, use of helicopter and expense when dealing with large scale searches but also increasing the capability of specialist teams during complex deployments. I am Force Lead for Taser provision and policy. I have brought consistency to policy across the force, standardising process to ensure officer safety and management of misuse, in doing so highlighting learning and enhance the effectiveness of our training. Developed the first Taser Strategic Threat and Risk Assesment for the force receiving external praise. Further to this I lead the programme to deliver improved electronic storage of devices to improve safety and efficiency for officers and increased accountability. Finally, I also have leadership and management of Forensic Collision Investigation and the challenge and privilege of developing this capability to ISO accreditation. A team often underestimated for their skill, compassion and dedication when dealing with and understanding the causes of fatal road collisions.

Throughout the first 2 years of the CoVid pandemic, I supported our Gold commander in strategic and tactical management of our organisational response to CoVid, alongside our Local Resilience Forum agency partners. I assumed Silver command in the initially phases of the response from February to May 2020 handed on the Chief Superintendent and reassumed the position in June 2021. I coordinated the response across all force departments an tactical groups, developing consistent working practices including but not limited to PPE, communication strategies and enforcement response to legislation. I lead a small team to deliver antibody testing to 6000 people with 5 days notice across a 3 week delivery period, receiving high praise. coordination across 5 local authorities to provide fairness in testing and CoVid case management across the force area. Op Hydrogen was our force enforcement response, I successfully bid for and tactically applied and managed the Home Office funding, ensuring we delivered a proportionate response to rapidly changing CoVid legislation, whilst maintaining the trust and confidence of our communities, this was at the heart my strategy. I received a CMI certificate in recognition of "Outstanding and invaluable contribution" as a key worker and leader during the CoVid pandemic.

I managed a large team of detectives (Sergeants, Constables and Civilian Investigators) in Bristol and Somerset, responding and investigating complex, serious and major investigations across a broad range of crime types. During my time in this role I became and accredited PIP3 SIO and maintained my SCAIDP accreditation.

Director of Intelligence within Avon and Somerset Constabulary. I currently manage intelligence resources located across the force area, from processing, development and embedded intelligence officers and staff. This includes the Live Cell function within control room. The Intelligence Directorate drives the response of policing to the Force, PCC and national policing priorities and to critical demand to disrupt and aprehend the most dangerous offenders and protect the most vulnerable people in society. (Short term posting to support department waiting for a transferee Supt)

Leading a large team of response and neighbourhood officers. Part of my role was leading the emergency response to 999 calls and the initial investigation for critical incidents including high risk missing people. Much of this role involved risk assessment, management and resource management. However the key to effectiveness of my team was the constant learning through review, debrief and assessment of potential improvements. This also included a focus on welfare and development specific to each officer to enhance both the effectiveness of the individual and improve their enjoyment of the work environment.

I have responsibility for the safety and welfare of detainees whilst they remain in custody. This includes making decisions on charging offences, ensuring suspect detention is in accordance with Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and managing the health and safety of those in custody; staff, visitors and detainees. This is in accordance with "Safer detention and handling of persons in police custody" and the College of Policing issued Authorised Professional Practice (APP).I have line management responsibility for the Detention Officers in the custody suite, providing a mentoring role for those aspiring to progress their careers in other roles of the police services and beyond.

Safeguarding Coordination Unit (SCU), based in the Bridgwater Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) for Avon and Somerset Police. I conduct strategy discussions and decision making for vulnerable children and adult cases in the Somerset with health, and social services and if necessary education and care home staff. This area covers 6 different local authorities. I have line managerial responsibility for the local Case Conference Officers conducting Initial Child Protection Conferences (ICPC) in the area."Working together to safeguard children" is statuary guidance to support the Children's Act governing the powers available to police and partner agencies in managing safeguarding cases for vulnerable children in strategy and practice. Furthermore, the the Care Act governs similar provision for the engagement, care and interventions for vulnerable adults. I am familiar with all aspects of this legislation given the nature of the DS role in the SCU.

During this posting I manage a team of 6 DCs, investigating offences against vulnerable members of the community. Please get in touch for more details of the general work undertaken if required. This involves regular interaction and strategy discussions with social service management, NHS and schools. This enhances the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults aiding the protection and formulation of community impact assessments for the wider population.

Doorstep Crime Team. A sub division of the priority crime team, investigating distraction burglary and rogue trading offences. Victim's were often elderly and/or vulnerable, as such much of this work involved partner agency working including social services, council financial investigators and charity based projects. Whilst in the role I managed the team as acting sergent for 3 month prior to substantive promotion. I worked with the charity LinkAge (helping to eliviate lonliness and isolation) to initiate a very successful launch event for a befriending service in Bristol. This was attended by the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Priority crime

Resort head rep, I managed the team of reps and service providers within the resort of Soll, Austria. The resort attracted over 100 guests per week through Directski.com. I organised evening entertainment, evening and day trips for guests and airport transfers. Sales was a major factor in this role, selling ski equipment and lift passes, including the apres ski events. I negotiated prices with the providers, maximising profit for the company and creating value for money for the guests enhancing the guests overall experience in an holistic manner. In doing so I attracted repeat visitors throughout the season I, turning over a high profit per guest in comparison to other resorts managed by other reps within the company.
