I was born and raised in El Segundo, California. My parents had the onerous task of raising three active and rambunctious boys. To focus our energy and attention on something productive, my parents put all three of us in sports at a young age. My parents were the typical coach/team mom duo for baseball and avid spectators for our other sports.I began my college career following my old brother's lead and majoring in computer science. While capable, I did not see myself as a lifelong programmer. I transferred to ASU to study business at WP Carey School of Business. After graduation, given the economy in 2003 and my degree, the obvious career path was real estate. I instantly found success and happiness in real estate while learning how to build a business, but lacked passion. In late 2011 I decided to change industries completely, leave real estate and help start a sports technology company. My first tech venture, SportsBeat, had to be an overnight success, right? Wrong.. SportsBeat never came into revenue so was shut down. However, I learned a tremendous amount about myself and the two spaces we had entered (sports & tech).
