I am a trained geologist with a talent for field work, remote sensing data analysis, and mathematically intensive projects. My educational background has focused on geomorphology, sedimentoloy, and core geologic principles combined with an intensive mathematical background. In this period of telecommunication, I am accustomed to online interaction being my most frequent method of communication. I attended Dickinson College for my undergraduate education, where I applied my talent for mathematics and scientific procedure toward a B.S. in physics. At Dickinson I chose to change my career path to geology, so added courses for a strong foundation geology onto my work in physics. My study of geology came in my junior year and so I was only able to gain a minor in geology while at Dickinson. After graduating from Dickinson I felt the need for a more robust education in geology so I pursued graduate courses at Temple University and Penn State University Departments of Geology. With my additional geology courses, I then chose to improve myself by gaining greater field experience and professional training by working with the National Park Service through their Geoscientist in Parks internship program. I spent months working for the NPS at Catoctin National Park in fluvial surveying and Assateague Island National Park in coastal sediment transport assessment. Following my work with the NPS, I joined Dr. Will Ouimet for a Master’s in Geology at the Department for Integrative Geoscience at the University of Connecticut. My thesis “Characterizing Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene Deposits in Easter Connecticut” studied sedimentation changes in cores collected from post-glacial ponds near active streams. Sample collection for my thesis required the use of a vibracore which was acquired by the University during my stay. I was responsible for the establishment of all related workflows and usage guidelines. I presented my work at the NEGSA meeting of 2016. Following my graduation from the University of Connecticut I was needed to provide in home care for my parents. My time was spent helping my mother write a book, organizing the house, and keeping up with geology literature. I've joined a close friend working at a startup shop that deals in board games and other table top entertainment. At the shop I organize and lead group sessions for customers. The work at the game store is rewarding and part time, so I am looking to join the world of professional geology once again.

Coastal GeomorphologistNational Park Service Apr 2013 - Oct 2013Assateague Island National Seashore• A guest scientist in park GSA Geocorps position, providing the park services as a temporary geologist. The assignment was to use any methods necessary to analyze given data to evaluate the park's ongoing North End Restoration Project which supplemented the natural flow of sand, now blocked since 1939 by the Ocean City jetty and inlet, with biannual dumping of dredged sand near the Island northern shore. • Under my own discretion and based on previous geologic reports, I used ArcGIS and Excel analysis to determine trends in shoreline growth in the years since sediment dumping began. • A preliminary responsibility was working with the Army Corps of Engineers to acquire data sets missing from the electronic library maintained by the National Park Service offices archiving all documents, surveys, and data associated with the North End Restoration Project. Included was yearly bathymetry data collected by the Army Corps of Engineers, topographic surveys and gps shoreline tracks collected by the National Park Service, elevation measurements using LiDAR, wave measurements from an Army Corps of Engineers wave meter, and weather data from an Assateague based weather station.• Developed and gave a presentation describing my findings to a joint meeting of the project related member of the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Park Service.• Produced internal National Park Service report detailing findings on sediment transport in reference to the North End Restoration Project and recommendations for continued effectiveness of the project

Fluvial Geomorphologist Intern: Geoscientist In ParkNational Park Service Sep 2012 - Dec 2012Catoctin Mountain Park• Continued stream morphology monitoring projects begun the previous year while also expanding upon the study, including new stream sections for surveying. Measurements were performed using a Total Station and Trimble GPS equipment. The morphology of the stream was characterized by measuring the longitudinal profile and channel cross-sections of streams within the park. Pebble counts were also used to help characterize the stream nature.• Identified changes in channel morphology by comparing to previously measured channel cross-sections and longitudinal profiles. Highlighted erosive stream banks that could pose dangers to park resources or infrastructure within decade time frame. Information was conveyed using a report and ArcGIS mapping. Created metadata from field measurements to align survey data in a geo-spatial coordinate system, to be displayed with ArcGIS. • Used computational modeling with Deft3D to approximate stream channel migration, providing possible scenarios for erosive behavior. -
