Ever since I was young I have had goals and aspirations to build a captivating career that would allow me to help people along the way. I believe that cybersecurity is a perfect fit for these goals due to the evolving nature of the security field and its various applications. I also appreciate the fact that cybersecurity is a critical component for helping businesses and people stay safe from threats. My competitive and curious nature has led me to pursue a master’s degree and learn about various cybersecurity topics such as machine learning, malware analysis, penetration testing, risk and vulnerability management, etc. I hope to further my career by developing my skills in a professional environment while collaborating and learning from other security experts.My work experience has provided me with first hand vulnerability management experience using Nessus, NeXpose, and other vulnerability scanners. During my time at Bottomline Technologies I assisted in the process of logging existing vulnerabilities using Jira and communicating remediation options with developers in order for them to release a secure product. During this process I also leveraged my communication skills to assist developers with understanding the results of our scans. My skills also include using programming and scripting languages such as Python and Powershell to automate tasks; these skills proved to be critical in my previous jobs and allowed me to save my team valuable time. While at Lockheed Martin I prepared a presentation which highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in order to convince a client to hire our security team to upgrade their infrastructure.
