I sit within the Consulting arm of the KBR group, based in the London office. Gaining experience in conceptual studies and Pre-Feed work scopes. I was a part of the team tasked with the conceptual design of the hydrate inhabitation system on one of KBRs largest projects.I have worked on multiple projects at a variety of different stages in development. I have gained experience in defining scope, system selection, equipment sizing, hazard identification and process simplification. My role is to ensure clients get the best possible design regarding drivers such as CAPEX, OPEX, operability and availability, whilst always ensuring safety and regulatory requirements are met.I have also gained experience in proprietary tool / software development and was a key member to the team who developed the facility Maintenance Man-hour Modelling tool (K-MIT), which estimates maintenance requirements from an equipment list.

I was part of the marine department during my summer placement with JZHC. I was given two research projects along with many smaller tasks, given on a daily basis. My first substantial project was to complete pressure drop calculations over a fuel sprayer. This resulted in liaising with the drawing office as well as the senior engineers. My knowledge in sprayer pressure drop was then used to aid in the design of a bespoke solution to a burner retrofit project.JZHC have branched into boiler module construction in recent years. My largest project was the construction of a module cost estimation spread sheet. The spread sheet incorporated previous projects and had to be capable of accurately predicting a future module cost. The most difficult factor to incorporate was the price of structural steel as it depends on assumption of the future market. My manager was pleased with the finished document as it could streamline the method the sales teams created initial quotes.

Sullom Voe Oil Terminal, Shetland, United Kingdom

During my time with BP I was based at Sullom Voe oil terminal and was part of the renewal & turnaround team. The scope of the project was to refurbish the Crude Stabilisation Train as well as giving some added upgrades. The first half of my time at the site was shadowing a BP Package Engineer as well as checking valve procurement list. I was quickly given more responsibility as I finished my jobs quickly and accurately. I received harness and closed space training at my time there which allowed me to accompany an inspection team inside a high pressure crude oil separator.My first individual project was to size a PSV for an air-blanket modification to the main crude pumps. This project resulted in liasing with many different specialists at the site to gather all the information I needed to complete the calculations. From these calculations I complied a report to aid senior management in their decisions on the projects viability.
