I currently manage a team of economists, energy and policy professionals focused on growing the economy around the Port of San Diego while reducing the emissions footprint. The Port of San Diego is a thriving maritime port that also includes a strong tourist industry; commercial and sport fishing fleets; large ship building and repair operations; and of course the US Navy. The Port in 2020-2021 pivoted its focus to criteria pollutants – NOx and DSM -- that have the greatest impact on the health of the nearby communities. Upcoming technologies will include expanded shore power; the first all-electric assist tug in the US; shifting the drayage trucks from diesel to electric or hydrogen; and electrifying the Port fleet of 150+ vehicles. I have 20+ years in the energy field. I have worked with residential and commercial customers, community groups, local leaders and organizations to provide green energy alternatives. I developed strategies and partnerships to further company business goals. I provided research on market structures, strategic direction, and policy for investment opportunities and business growth in distributed generation and renewable energy. I have represented my company at regional and national levels, providing data analysis and testimony for legislators, policy makers and regulators in Washington DC, Washington State and local municipalities.
