About Thomas Mckinney, Cfm, Ats

Master Data Center Designer, Builder, Operator. My first career of 18-years with Hollister, Inc. was critical to my professional success. I was given the opportunity to learn and master all skilled trades including electrical, HVAC and refrigeration, pipe fitting, carpentry, and building operations. Dedicated to my work and family, I continued to pursue education at night with trade courses in every discipline and supplemented with CAD training and additional engineering course work with Johnson Controls Institute and Milwaukee School of Engineering. Understanding that I also needed additional intellectual growth, business, and management education, I entered the business degree program at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. At the age of 36, I retired and moved on to my second career. I have been entirely focused on design, construction, operation and management of data centers. 8-years with a Fortune 500 software company (CA) as Midwest Regional Operations Manager and 11-years as Director of Operations with an IT VAR (Forsythe Technology). I'm currently with STACK Infrastructure as Director, Enterprise Engineering, managing both pre-sales & delivery for Enterprise clientele.Key career achievements include:- Reestablishing operational and fiscal control of CA Midwest regional data and facility assets.- IT consulting to 100+ companies in the banking, insurance, healthcare, and manufacturing verticals.- Retrofit and new construction of 40+ enterprise data centers.- Development of Forsythe Data Centers including all responsibilities for design, construction, operations and new business development.- Principal solution architect of private cloud platforms for one of the industries largest card banks and two major insurance companies.- Retired Certified Facility Manager (RCFM) with the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS) with The Uptime Institute.- Nationally recognized data center expert, public speaker and published author.
