As one of the initial members of the Vancouver Rivian Automotive mobile development team, I have worked with my team to grow the iOS Rivian mobile application from an empty project to the live consumer-facing app used by the majority of our customers daily. In the process I had the opportunity to work on a wide set of features and technical problems this included making architectural decisions, setting up unit testing and mocking frameworks, deep-linking and push notification integrations, integrating ReactNative components with the application, working on the BLE service layer, and working on a networking service layer which originally used Rest calls and was later migrated to GraphQL. In addition to the work I did on the iOS application, I was fortunate enough to work on and be listed on U.S. Patent Application 17/534,672 - SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SECURELY MANAGING VEHICLE INFORMATION filed by Rivian on 24 Nov 2021. This is a multi-factor authentication process for unlocking the vehicle.Before working at Rivian I worked for local Vancouver-based startups. At EAP (Euro Asia Pay) I developed the Sidekick iOS mobile application which was also a greenfield application when I joined the team. As the sole mobile iOS developer, I worked on every aspect of this app, and successfully launched the app before my move to Rivian Automotive. EAP has since gone on to IPO and continued to grow despite the pandemic. At Dr Bill I worked on an existing code base which included both swift and objective c. I worked on the migration from Swift 2.3 to Swift 3, helped to extend existing features, updated UI, and resolved various bugs. The founders of Dr Bill have went on to have a successful exit, and the company has continued to grow under its new ownership.I have a passion for teaching. I have mentored and onboarded a number of team members at Rivian. Previously, I worked as a mentor and lecturer at a programming boot camp where I helped students learn Objective-C and Swift in an intense, fast-paced, immersive environment. Prior to the pandemic, I ran an iOS Developer Meet-up where developers work together to build apps and receive feedback from Senior Developers.
