Hon. Thomas T. Merrigan (Ret.) is an accomplished legal professional who now serves as a mediator and arbitrator in disputes. In addition to his nearly twelve years on the bench, Judge Merrigan has 24 years of experience in private practice as a trial and appellate lawyer, representing innumerable individuals and businesses on both sides of civil litigation. He also gained relevant experience as a corporate executive while serving as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Easton Bell Sports. At Easton Bell, Judge Merrigan supervised extensive product liability litigation for Bell, Giro, Easton and Riddell brands. In that role, he managed such prominent litigation as lawsuits brought by retired NFL players in federal multi-district litigation, seeking to hold the NFL and Riddell liable for concussions suffered by the retired athletes. In addition, Judge Merrigan actively managed intellectual property litigation, as well as the internal protection of trademarks, patents, and trade secrets.Judge Merrigan also served three terms as a Governor’s Councilor from the Eighth District of Massachusetts, where he provided advice and consent to the Governor on judicial nominations.
